... or why you should join wine clubs. On August 29 we were blessed to be able to attend a club member appreciation dinner at Lynmar Estate Winery (just outside Santa Rosa). Our hosts, winery owners Lynn and Anisya Fritz, provided a sumptuous meal in their elegantly modern winery with a stunning view of mountains to the east and of bio-intensive vegetable gardens all around. What a terrific evening! What terrific wine!. Rather than try to describe the event in a thousand words, I'll just put up a link to my Facebook slideshow.
For the record, the Lynmar wines served with dinner included: - 2006 Russian River chardonnay: The best of what we love about Lynmar. Just a hint of oak overlays citrus aromas and flavors of ripe fruit.
- 2008 Rosé of Pinot Noir: Excellent balance between rosé lightness and pinot noir flavors. Very dry.
- 2004 Quail Hill chardonnay: Somewhat more oak than the 2006 Russian River, but aging has smoothed this excellent vintage.
- 2006 Russian River Valley pinot noir: More of the best of what we love about Lynmar. Aromas of dark fruit followed by an explosion of blackberries and plums on the palate.
- 2007 Quail Hill pinot noir: Actually still a bit young... as it was just released. Age it a few years and it will be terrific.
